Going to the chapel and we're gonna get married !!
Well it finally happened. Ed and I were sitting at a local restaurant and on Saturday 9/5/2020 he looked across the table at me, clapped his hands together and said "So, it's time", to which I responded "time for what?". "It's time to get married, let's go ahead and do it".
Well, we have been together for years and last May 2019, he proposed to me in the gazebo in downtown Charleston, SC. We have been engaged for over a year but neither of us was really worried about setting a date or time. I guess we already assumed we would be together forever and considered ourselves already on that road to forever.
But girl, let me tell you how happy that made me to hear HIM suggest it. I knew it came from the his heart and he must be ready because I have never pushed him about it and thought we would just do it when he was ready. Looks like he was!
Our 11 year old black lab, Brady, was with us on our 1st date, our 1st kiss, when we combined households, when my daughter had her 1st baby...he goes absolutely everywhere with us. He goes hiking, on vacation, to the beach...if we go, he goes. So, it was naturally fitting that he would walk me down the aisle, which his bandanna which read "I Do Too".
We had a small ceremony in the chapel at The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, WVa. The pastor from the resort performed the service after we got our license at the courthouse about 20 minutes away, in town.
We each said "I Do" and were pronounced husband and wife!! The rest of our weekend was spent hiking, biking, croquet, pickle ball, gun range and exploring the resort. It could not have been more perfect!!!
Looking at the Wheel of Health, I now see that several components were connected this day. Spirituality (What GOD has joined together, let no man or woman put asunder), Physical Environment (the chapel was a beautiful and spiritual place for our ceremony), Relationships & Communication (we created a deeper connection through pledging of lifelong vows), Movement, Exercise & Rest (because we are both so active we incorporated lots of physical activities to feel like we were at home, Mindful Awareness of what we were doing as we stood before God, Pastor Greg Scott and each other.....it is amazing to see how all parts of our life are interconnected and total wellness and total wholeness is our goal.
Cheers to Us! Here's to a long life of peace, love, health and happiness!
